Principal Areas of Biochemistry

Biochemistry can be divided mainly into three principal areas:

(1) Structural biochemistry that deals with the structural chemistry of the components of living matter and relationships of biological function to chemical structure;

(2) Metabolic biochemistry that deals with the totality of chemical reactions that occur in living matter; and

(3) Genetic biochemistry, that deals with he chemistry of processes and substances that store and transmit biological information.

Besides, in clinical it is known as clinical biochemistry or clinical chemistry, in medical as medical biochemistry and in molecular as molecular biochemistry.
